On March1, 2009, Mintra will launch a course on “Fire Prevention during Hot Work”. Through this course, those performing hot work will learn what precautions to take to prevent fires, as well as how to quickly extinguish any potential fires. After completing the course, participants are issued a certificate from the Norwegian Fire Prevention Association.
Background
Many fires are caused by carelessness during hot work every year. People performing hot work must have insight into the risk of fire during hot work and perform their work in such a way that they do not cause fires.
In order to ensure increased competence, insurance companies now require people performing hot work to be certified. The certificate is issued by the Norwegian Fire Prevention Association. If a fire is caused by hot work and the worker doesn't have a valid certificate, companies can face significant financial consequences when their insurance is voided.
About the Course The e-learning course, “Fire Prevention during Hot Work”, has been quality controlled by the Norwegian Fire Prevention Association and designed is to satisfy the requirements set by the insurance industry. The course aims to reduce the number of fires caused by hot work and improve knowledge about the risk of fire during hot work. When participants pass the test at the end of the course, they will be issued a certificate from the Norwegian Fire Prevention Association. The certificate must be renewed every 5 years.
The course focuses on duties and responsibilities during hot work and is divided into the following topics:
- What is Hot Work?
- Fire Theory
- Your Responsibilities
- Before Hot Work
- During Hot Work
